ST MARTHA’S WELCOMES JJ
St Martha’s were excited to welcome GB athlete JJ Jegede to meet the girls and give a motivational and inspiring talk during assembly. JJ spoke about the struggles you may come across whilst achieving your goal, be it academic or sports. JJ said he was disappointed when his hopes of becoming a footballer were not fulfilled due to his height; he made the girls laugh when he said each year he hoped he would grow and at the age of 15 he finally had his growth spurt! He then discovered the long jump and with a push he found he had a talent for this. He ended by saying to the girls to believe in themselves and don’t give up on their dreams! JJ then went on a quick tour of the school, popping into the classrooms for a quick chat with smaller groups. We would like to thank JJ for giving up time in his busy schedule to come and see us. We wish him luck with the selections for the Olympics later this year.
