OSCAR – JUNIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR!

Claremont School pupil, Oscar Murray was named as Crowhurst Park Cricket , Club’s Junior Player of the Year at the recent Lashings All-Stars cricket extravaganza.

Martin Barry, Cricket Development Manager at Crowhurst Park, said ‘this is the most prestigious youth award that we present and it is given to the player we believe has been one of our most consistent performers all season. Oscar is a fine fielder and a great team player; he consistently goes about his business on the pitch with a minimum of fuss, displaying all the right attributes Crowhurst Park values highly.’

As well as receiving the coveted CPCC trophy from England fast bowler Alex Tudor, to his sheer delight (and utter disbelief!), 12 year old Oscar was also given the honour of opening the bowling in the Crowhurst Park v Lashings All-Starts  20/20 match.

He was introduced to the crowd by none other than the legendary cricket commentator, Henry Blofeld , and proudly took his place on the field with the CPCC 1st XI where he calmly bowled the first ball of the match to West Indian fast bowler Tino Best. It was most definitely a day to remember!
